Instruments, Music and
Flip Folders/Lyres
All woodwind, brass, and percussion students are expected to bring their own instrument and music (this was handed out in class at each individual middle school).
In order to read music efficiently during the game, we ask that woodwind and brass (minus tubas) purchase the appropriate flip folder and lyre for their instrument. For those who are unable to purchase these items, please bring a 3 ring binder with music in page protectors and limited music stands will be provided
Percussionists and tubas DO NOT need to purchase flip folders or lyres and should bring a 3 ring binder with music in sheet protectors to read in the stands. Limited music stands will be provided.

CONCERT BANDS
Elevate your Musical Standard
We offer two incredible opportunities for musicians to grow and shine in our Concert Band program! Whether you’re a rising star or an experienced player, you can be part of either the Intermediate Symphonic Band (mandatory for 9th-10th graders) or the prestigious Wind Symphony (by audition for 10th-12th graders). Both ensembles focus on developing your instrumental skills through the performance of classical, contemporary, and traditional wind band music – from woodwinds and brass to percussion.
JAZZ BANDS
Express Yourself
We offer three dynamic levels of Jazz Ensemble – each designed to help you explore the world of jazz at your own pace! All incoming 9th-graders can audition for Jazz 3, giving you a solid foundation in jazz performance. For more experienced musicians, Jazz 2 and Jazz 1 are advanced, audition-only groups for 10th-12th graders that offer a thrilling challenge and the chance to perform at a higher level. Perform at school concerts, local festivals, and community events, and have exciting opportunity to travel and perform at renowned festivals like the Reno Jazz Festival, Essential Ellington, and the Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival.
STRING ORCHESTRAS

We offer two levels of Chamber Orchestra, each designed to help you explore a wide range of orchestral music! String Orchestra is the perfect entry point for beginning and intermediate players – no audition required – where you’ll dive into traditional, modern, and popular orchestral works. For more advanced musicians, Chamber Orchestra (audition only) is a high-level performance ensemble focusing on complex orchestral repertoire and deepening your understanding of music theory and history. Our orchestras perform at school concerts, local festivals, and are eager to travel to destinations like San Fransisco in the Spring of 2025
