
JAZZ BAND

Jazz I
Los Alamitos High School Jazz I is recognized as one of the top jazz ensembles in the region. This group focuses on traditional and modern jazz compositions, music theory, music history, and improvisation.
Performances include Taste for Los Al, the annual Gaslamp, winter and spring concerts, the JEN conference in New Orleans, the Southern California Jazz festivals, the RCC Jazz Festival, the All-District Festival, and various community performances. Students are also involved in small-group jazz combos at this particular level.
Placement into this ensemble is through audition.


Jazz II
Los Alamitos High School Jazz II is an advanced jazz ensemble that focuses on traditional and modern jazz compositions, music theory, music history, and improvisation.
Performances include the annual Gaslamp, winter and spring concerts, the JEN conference in New Orleans, the Southern California Jazz festivals, the RCC Jazz Festival, the All-District Festival, and various community performances. Students are also involved in small-group jazz combos at this particular level.

Jazz III (9th-12th)
Los Alamitos High School Jazz III is a high school intermediate jazz ensemble that focuses on traditional and modern jazz compositions, music theory, music history, and improvisation.
Performances include the annual Gaslamp, the winter and spring concerts, the All-District Festival, and Southern California Jazz festivals. Students at this particular level are also involved in small-group jazz combos.
Jazz III is open to all students enrolled at Los Alamitos High School.
An audition is required for admittance to Jazz III. All 9th and 10th-graders in Jazz III are required to enroll in a concert band.
